British French Business Cocktail
19th March 2014
Sofia Hotel Balkan
On 19th March, the British Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and the French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce hosted a Business Cocktail for the Members and Friends of both chambers. Around 100 representatives from across 40 business sectors gathered together to make new contacts and participate in the B2B short meetings organised for them.
The guests were welcome by the FBCC Chairman, Stephane Delhaye, the Honorary Board Member and Founder of the BBCC, Ivan Stancioff and the BBCC Executive Director, Evelina Stoyanova. They touched on the long and successful record of both Britain and France in business, investment, cultural and student exchanges with Bulgaria on one hand, and on the successful partnership and healthy rivalry between Britain and France as neighbouring nations, on the other. As both their economies start to grow again, increasing opportunities arise for collaboration. The wide spectrum of companies presented at the meeting points to many ways both chambers can work together. Business sectors with potential for partnership include energy, infrastructure, IT, outsourcing of sub-component manufacture. Joint venture operations remain a good option to leverage the mutual expertise of Britain and France.
The format of scheduled in advance short B2B meetings between the members and partners of both chambers was an outright success. More than 60 B2B meetings took place with some of the participants carrying on till late evening. Feedback received was so enthusiastic regarding the usefulness of this type business meeting format that we are planning soon to repeat this concept with another of our partner-chambers.
To the good spirits of the participants contributed also the warm hospitality of the Sofia Hotel Balkan team, as well as the generous quantities of quality French wine!
